Events and moments that mattered

From enchanting storytelling to exploring the cosmos – what a term it was.

The Tales of Peter Rabbit – Live storytelling session

Our youngest learners (Grades R to 3) were enchanted by a live storytelling event bringing the beloved world of Peter Rabbit to life. Wide-eyed and giggling throughout, the session wrapped up with a delightful craft activity where students created their very own Peter Rabbit characters to take home. Imagination was very much in the air.

World Theatre Day at the National Children’s Theatre

In celebration of World Theatre Day, our Grade 1 to 4 students visited the iconic National Children’s Theatre in Johannesburg for a performance of The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark. The production was warmly received, and the fun didn’t stop there – post-show, students enjoyed crafts, lively group chats and an entertaining quiz. A day full of laughter and learning.

Worlds Beyond Earth — Planetarium Visit

Our Grade 4 to 6 students blasted off on an out-of-this-world adventure at the Planetarium, watching the awe-inspiring feature Worlds Beyond Earth. With stunning visuals projected across the dome ceiling, students journeyed through our solar system and beyond – sparking curiosity about the universe and our place within it. A truly stellar experience.

What students are loving right now – exciting new additions and features tailored to every age group.

  • Online library (ages 6–9)

Our Reading Room is a colourful, easy-to-navigate space designed to spark a love for reading from an early age. Students can explore a wide range of age-appropriate books, from fun stories to simple non-fiction.

  • Science Club (ages 10–12)

The virtual Science Club brings experiments to life in a safe, interactive environment. Students can explore scientific concepts through simulations, hands-on activities and guided experiments without needing physical equipment. It encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of how science works in the real world.

  • Cartoon and Anime Club (ages 16–18)

This creative hub is perfect for students who enjoy storytelling, animation, and visual art. The virtual Cartoon and Anime Club allows learners to explore character design, storyboarding, and animation techniques while connecting with peers who share similar interests. It encourages creativity, collaboration, and the development of digital art skills in a fun, relaxed setting.

Introducing the Live Playground

The Live Playground is our newest social space built right into the student dashboard. Every week, students in Grades 4 through 12 meet live via their virtual platforms to connect with classmates from around the world, share ideas, work on collaborative challenges and simply get to know one another. Because learning is always better with friends – even virtual ones.

Look out for the “Live Breaks” link on your dashboard to join the weekly session.

Why virtual schooling is raising more well-rounded kids

Research increasingly confirms what TDA families have experienced first-hand: children in virtual school environments often develop stronger self-discipline, time management and independent thinking skills earlier than their peers. When a learner is empowered to manage their own schedule and take ownership of their progress, they are, in essence, being trained for the real world.

A growing body of international studies points to reduced anxiety among online learners, attributed to the removal of social pressures that can make traditional classrooms challenging for many children. Combined with more personalised pacing, students who might have been overlooked in a conventional 30-learner classroom often discover a new confidence in the virtual environment.

At Think Digital Academy, we believe the future of education isn’t about replacing connection, it’s about building it in new, more intentional ways. From Live Playground sessions to virtual clubs and real-world excursions, we are committed to nurturing the whole child, not just the academic one. Your child is exactly where they need to be.
