Tips for staying on top of your workload

Like any goal in life, preparation and commitment are key. The following tips will help you to navigate through Grade 10 successfully:

Preparation

Create a daily schedule for yourself and stick to it. One idea is to create 4 x 90 minute blocks. Take regular breaks and get some fresh air, don’t just sit behind your screen during your breaks.

Daily revision

If you revise your work on a daily basis, you will be able to stay on top of your work and also identify any possible problem areas which you can then obtain support for via our Tutor Chat.

Plan your term

Print out your assessment schedule and place it in a prominent place where you can view it daily. Ensure you stay ahead of your tasks and never miss a test or exam as you will receive zero.

Study effectively

Remember to focus hard during your lessons, but take regular breaks to keep your mind alert. Attend a study course if you feel you are not able to study effectively. Time management is critical at this point in your school career, so master this skill and it will benefit you throughout your study and work career.

Questions and answers

Do you have a question about our online Grade 10 school? Check out our FAQs below:

You can change up to two subjects in your Grade 10 year.  However, you will need to catch up on the work you have missed. Although you can make a subject change in Grade 11 and 12 too, it is best to make it in Grade 10.

At the start of your Grade 10 year, you will have access to the full year’s syllabus on your dashboard.  Your Termly Planner will help you to pace yourself, while your assessment calendar will help you to ensure that you know when your tasks, tests and exams are due. One of the greatest benefits of online learning is that you can personalise your learning.  Spend more time on the subjects you are battling with so that you can master them and improve your results.  Keep your eye on your goals, put in the extra hours and you will reap the benefits.

Your FET grades (Grade 10 – 12) are structured similarly. This is what you can expect from Grade 10:

Term 1
Your first term is filled with tests and tasks as you gain a broad understanding of the subjects that you have chosen and begin to lay the foundation for Matric.

Term 2
In addition to your tests and tasks, you also have June exams. The pace is intense in Term 2, but remember to work steadily and you will do well.

Term 3
The volume of work intensifies as you consolidate your knowledge and start preparing for your Term 4 exams.

Term 4
By the end of this term you will have a better understanding of your chosen subjects and will know if you will be making any changes. Prepare well for your end of year exams. Remember to manage your time and to study effectively.

Holidays
A great idea is to job shadow during your June holidays. This will give you a good idea of what the industry that you are interested in, is actually like. Use your December holidays to relax and refuel for Grade 11.

Our online lessons are visually appealing, interactive and are taught by highly qualified teachers.  Learners can work at their own pace, consult tutors via the Tutor Chat, interact with fellow learners on the Forum and take charge of their education by personalising their education.  Research has shown that online learning improves a learner’s retention of information, ability to think critically and also improve their time-management skills.
