Why Stories of Courage and Hope Improve Reading
Realistic, emotionally rich short stories are a quiet powerhouse for literacy. Because the situations feel familiar, young readers connect quickly with the characters, which keeps them turning pages and builds reading stamina. Emotion-driven plots also develop inference: readers must work out how a character feels from what they say and do, not just what the author states. Vocabulary grows too, especially the language of feelings and relationships. Recommended Age
